Today, November 7, 2006 Google Maps API Version 1 appears to be shut down by Google Maps Team. We do not see any official messages yet, but looks like API v1 is replaced by default v2.66 API.

How all this influence MapBuilder users?
1.MapBuilder.net itself has been upgraded to v2 couple months ago.
2.Source code generated by MapBuilder.net has been upgraded as well and correspondent notice was sent to all users.
3.And even more, we were able to update our code base and make maps working for those users who did not upgrade their maps to v2. But we strongly recommend to update your source code even if your map works without any update.

Along with new Google Maps API features folks from GMap team continue to update imagery for Eastern Europe. Today I was surprised to see high resolution imagery for a northern part of Ukrainian city Lviv.

Check it out!

On a map you may see a bridge on a crossroad between Volodymyra Velykoho street and Naukova street. That bridge is not functional - it used to be a huge parking lot. Night club Mi100 is located on the bottom right corner of a map (see building with a blue roof)

The basic challenge of this race is to drive a car with an engine smaller than one litre, from the east end of London to the east end of the world: Mongolia. At Lewis Elementary School 5th grade students are deep into their European Explorers social studies unit. They are using Flickr to post their explorer portraits and reports and MapBuilder.net to create a map that highlights the routes and voyages of their particular explorer.
Here's a master map of all the explorer reports. The master map will include a thumbnail image of the explorer along with a link to the Flickr page with the image and report.

I would like to prove Google Maps domination using MapBuilder.net statistic. Since Yahoo Maps implementation feature has been added in November 2005 only 12% of user's view source code or preview map created for Yahoo Map API. All other 88% prefer Google.
